Faith is:
A reason to believe something.
Faith is not relevant when:
Everyone is in agreement. Only when there are disagreements is faith an important and relevant concept.
There is sufficient agreed upon evidence to support a conclusion based on logic alone.
When discussing something which is not prescriptive. Only when the matter under consideration involves action is faith of relevance.
Faith manifests itself through:
Vesting more truth in a belief than the immediate, available, agreed-upon evidence entails.
Considerations:
Faith is not necessarily in defiance of logic. The beliefs one has faith in may contravene apparently current evidence, or they may lack support from available evidence.
Faith is a loaded term in the Bible and as such Christians have over the years posited many explanations and definitions of Faith which may or may not be useful or consistent with each other and the Bible. _________________ "Now I'm really confused.
